Pick your weather and come for a GET-AWAY weekend. Free use of kayaks to venture up the tidal river to experience close encounters with the birds and enjoy the new plantings (and older) native trees that border the Parematta flats or go across to Pepin Island sand spits in Delaware Bay.

Pick your weather and come for a GET-AWAY weekend.  Free use of kayaks to venture up the tidal river to experience close encounters with the birds and enjoy the new plantings (and older) native trees that border the Parematta flats or go across to Pepin Island sand spits in Delaware Bay.

Here's a beautiful KERERU, or wood pigeon, perching on the railing at Cable Bay Nest, luxury B&B, Nelson. Isn't it stunningly beautiful?

Make sure you have your camera handy when you come and stay here!
New Zealand has many unique native fish, insects, birds, lizards and frogs. Our only native mammals are bats and marine mammals.

Unfortunately, introduced land mammals like rabbits, stoats, possums, cats, dogs, rats, etc. are a huge threat to native wildlife and are therefore considered a pest.
